It’s funny how in the last couple of years the number of people around the world are finally looking for an alternative to the oil/gas problems that have been talked about by a number of people for as long as they have come up with the idea of building Nuclear Power Plants. Before that, all we could think of is how large and powerful the motor of our car was and how fast it would go.
American’s were all for bigger and bigger, not caring about how they were going to get the gas for them because gasoline at the time was increadibly cheap. I remeber in the 50’s when we paid $0.25 for a gallon of gasoline. Now thats about €0.17 for just about 4 litres. If the prices were still the same we would probably never think about saving gas or anything. We didn’t.
Then came the big oil crisis in 1973. For awhile there was a day when nobody could drive their car or truck, except for emergencies, and the oil prices came down a-bit. Now though we are paying more and more for less and less. Today they lowered the price to about $1.23 but that won’t last long as the big oil companies will be screaming that they need more money to find more oil. What have they been doing with all the profits since oil was first discovered? I know that companies that get the oil out of the ground, do not have to pay taxes on it (in the USA), because oil was declared a ‘limited’ product. In other words the oil would not last too long.
If they knew that at the beginning, why wasn’t there anything done about it? Because they did do something about it. Everytime someone invented a part or carburator for the automobile industry where it would help save on gas milage, the oil companies bought out the inventor, thereby owning the rights to the invention. These rights they put in a huge vault where no-one could get to and thereby made sure that they would sell a lot more gasoline (oil).
Now the oil companies want to get into the Alternate Energy go-around because they know if they don’t they will eventually have to fold up their tents and slowly fade away. And no billionair wants to think that he isn’t going to make more money for working when now he gets it for doing nothing.
